On behalf of the APAGBI, I am delighted to invite you to join us at our Annual Scientific Meeting in Edinburgh in 2025. It has been a decade since we last held our meeting in Scotland, and much longer since we visited the historic capital city of Edinburgh. The organising team, based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, have brought together an exciting programme of expert speakers to share their knowledge and experience.  

We are also looking forward to receiving our guests from the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia (SPA) from the US who will be contributing to the scientific programme. The Scottish Paediatric Anaesthetic Network (SPAN) will also be included in the provision and delivery of the meeting.

Pre-conference Workshops

There will be two Satellite Events taking place in Edinburgh the week of the ASM. Why not make the most of your visit to the city and book these extra events?

1. The SAFE Paediatrics Course
The SAFE Paediatrics Course is a 2-day course taking place on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th May at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. Over the two-days, you will learn about the basic concepts in paediatric anaesthesia, focusing on UK paediatric anaesthesia practice and common scenarios faced by anaesthetists in well-resourced environments. 2. The Trauma Training Session
The local organising committee for the APAGBI ASM is glad to present a pre-conference trauma training afternoon on Wednesday 14th May. The course will be comprised of lectures given by experts in paediatric trauma management followed by small group sessions in which delegates will work through true to life case-based paediatric trauma scenarios and enjoy some hands-on skills stations. The session will be from 14:00-17:00 in the Chancellor's building at the Royal Infirmary/Children's and Young People's hospital site. Tickets are £50 and can be purchased by clicking 'I will attend' below. There are only 25 places available.

Overseas Delegate Scheme

Delegates from countries defined as non-high income economies (see website for full details) may attend for a fee of £125 for one day, or £250 for two days. Delegates wishing to access the scheme should email enquiries@eventmanagementdirect.co.uk with a request on the official letterhead of their organisation - e.g. hospital - to request attendance at the conference. After review, you will then be provided with further instructions for booking. Please do not complete the registration form until you have been sent further details. 

Nb. Delegates from high income economies should register using the regular member / non-member rates.

There will be an early morning run / walk on both mornings of the conference. It is the perfect way to get ready for the day and see some beautiful Edinburgh sights.

Conference Dinner & Ceilidh - Thursday 15th May

The conference dinner will take place at 'The Caves' on Thursday 15th May from 7pm. 

The Caves is a truly unique venue that makes up the sub-structure of the 18th Century South Bridge. The dinner will be informal with plenty of time to network and chat with other delegates and speakers. After dinner, you will then experience a Scottish ceilidh with professional band Stravaig, who will bring high-energy music mixed with enthusiastic dance callers to create an uplifting atmosphere - guaranteed to get everyone up dancing (or at least clapping!)

 

Tickets include: a welcome drink, dinner & table wine, ceilidh and optional ghost tour (now full)!
